Our Journey
Sintal Enterprise was set up in 1983 and has been operating its business at its own one storey shop house at 278 Lavender Street Singapore 338799 and was registered with Building and Construction Authority for Registry of Contractors.
In early 80's
SINTAL dealt in the supply and installation of stone works and in providing of building material to renovation contractors. Today, SINTAL has become one of the leading general sub-contractor providing skilled labour to do brickworks, plastering, paving floor, wall finishes and external wall cladding to construction projects for hotels, condominiums and commercial buildings as its principal business. In 1984
In 1984, we were awarded the Singapore Changi Terminal Airport 2 project by Hyundai Construction to supply and install ceramic tiles and marble. The job was successfully completed in 1988 and opened in 1990. In those days, this is considered big project and Sintal has employed more than 80 workers to install all the marbles and tiles for this whole airport.
Our Chairman Mr KH Chua, who started this company, has been in building industries for many years from 1970s to 1980s. And during those years, Sintal has manufactured its own terrazzo for HDB residential. In 1970s, Mr KH Chua is in-charge of 2 factories; one in Jalan Kling and another in Benoi Place, both factories measured about 4.5 acres with production of more than 80,000 pieces of terrazzo per day to supply the requirements for the whole Toa Payoh Crescent. This production lasted from late 1970s to early 1980s, thereafter the government changed from terrazzo to ceramic tiles. With this, Mr KH Chua then focused on supplying marbles, granites and other natural stones concentrating on commercial projects and private sector projects like hotels, condominiums, office towers and other commercial buildings in Orchard Road and Shenton Way. In fact, Sintal have a hand in most of the skyline buildings in 1990s and 2000, until such time the economy in Singapore required more supplier for stonework as one company cannot absorb the requirement of Natural Stone.
In 1990
In 1990, Mr Fabian Chua, the son of Mr KH Chua, joined Sintal as the in-charge person for Sales Department. Mr Fabian went to secure many projects starting 1992 and from $1.5 million turnover per year, the company has increased the annual turnover by 15% to 20% annually. Today it has increased to approx. 10 folds from its original turnover annually.
In 2000
In 2000, Sintal managed to hit about $6 million turnover where we started joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation for various Japanese projects. This has allowed Sintal to lead into many projects with Japanese and Korean companies like Kajima Overseas Asia Pte Ltd, Hyundai Engineering, Shimizu Corporation and Takenaka Corporation. By which, Sintal learnt how Japanese contractors laid and installed stones at site with high quality of workmanship. In late 1990s, after this joint venture Sintal managed to bring the company to next level and started doing only projects for Japanese firms in Singapore, attached please find commendation certificate from Kajima Overseas Asia Pte Ltd, Hyundai Engineering and Shimizu Corporation.
In 2002
Also, in 2002, Sintal completed the Singapore Exchange Building with Kajima Overseas Asia Pte Ltd where at that time it amount to $8 million project, which was the largest in Singapore at that time. Please see attached UOB Properties vice president-Mr Khoo Kah Nan’s appreciation letter to Sintal after our completion and we also scored 85% CONQUAS mark which was the highest for stonework ever acquired at that time. Sintal obtained ISO 9001 for Quality Management System and AJA (S) Q1220 for supply, delivery, installation and maintenance of internal and external tiling and stonework for marble, granite and other building material as of Feb 2006 for both the quality mark certification. With that, we continue to arm ourselves for greater challenges ahead.
In 2013
In 2013, Sintal decided to embark on MRT projects more vigorously as the use of granites for MRT stations are starting to increased, as such we managed to work on several station i.e. Hougang Station, Kovan Station, Orchard Station, Somerset Station and UE Square Station. And in this year, Sintal has purchased a 2 2 storey building at 20 Joo Koon Crescent with approx. 33,000 ft2 area with 25,000 ft2 built in area and with 43 years lease balance. This is Sintal’s headquarters where we are concentrating most of our production and our dry laying of stones.
In 2014
In 2014, Sintal presented with SY06/L1 certification for upgrading and construction work for Public Sector. This means that Sintal will be able to apply for projects up to $2 million in Public Sector.
In 2016
In 2014, 2015 and 2016, Sintal completed more than 5,000 condominium units for various developers i.e. Far East Organization, Pontiac Land and Lippo Group in various parts of Singapore, and from here our sales and revenues started to increase by 20% to 30% each year.
In 2018
In 2017 and 2018, we were awarded the DUO Residences in Bugis area and we got a $16,000,000 contract from Obayashi Corporation. We completed the whole project 4 months ahead of schedule and also obtained 92% Conquers Score for the supply and installation of marble. We handed over total of 600 plus units together with the lift lobbies and other areas.
In the past 36 years of operation and doing legitimate business in Singapore and internationally, we had not once recorded any liquidated damages, delay claim, any arbitration or any law suits from any parties, we were always the claimant and never the defendant. We have soldier thru 2 separate recession which we managed to maneuver ourselves out of it and with such gloom economic climate here in Singapore, Sintal has already spread out our wings to neighboring countries i.e. Philippines and Indonesia where we currently are holding S$8 million of ongoing works and other $10 million which will be forthcoming in the next year or so. We can be proud to say that our company in Singapore lasted for so many years and still as active as any other stone company can be, and it is all due to our hard work and our commitment to complete projects on time and handing over to client the works with quality they are looking for and most importantly the dedication and commitment we give to our clients for each and every projects we take on. Especially to our chairman who has vast experience for the past 60 years. Our experiences far exceed other companies and this is where Sintal strength lies and rely upon and to be able to survive 36 years in Singapore and also to carry on for many more years to come.
